How many toys can I borrow?
You can borrow up to 10 toys at a time. Toys are borrowed for 2 weeks at a time.
How can I renew my toys?
Can I come and have a look without signing up?
Yes, please do. Come along to one of our open sessions and chat to a committee member or just have a look around.
What if I can't return my toys on time?
It's important that you return your toys by the due date so that other members have the opportunity to borrow them, however we understand that life with kids is busy and unpredictable. Please send us a message on Facebook, Instagram or via email and we can extend the borrowing period for you.
Is volunteering compulsory?
No. Warrnambool Toy Library members are not required to volunteer, however we need volunteers to run! We require volunteers for many tasks including open sessions, toy mending, toy cataloguing, social media, working bees and fundraising. If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know.
Do I need any special skills to volunteer?
You don't need any specials skills, however you do need a valid Working With Children Check.
If I volunteer at an open session, can I bring my children with me?
Yes, absolutely! Many of our volunteers bring their children along.

What will I be doing when I volunteer at an open session?
One of our friendly committee members will help you run the session. Some of the tasks you will be asked to complete include:
What does my membership fee pay for?
We cover the running costs with membership fees. This includes rent, rates, water, electricity, stationery, toy packaging and labelling etc. We apply for grants or fundraise to purchase toys, and make any significant changes to the toy library.
How can I pay for my membership?
We accept payment by card in person at the toy library or bank transfer. We do not take cash payments.

Do I need to clean my toys?
All members are required to thoroughly clean their toys prior to returning them to the toy library. If you do not clean your toys at home, you will be requested to clean them in the toy library.

Are there rules about batteries?
It is a Toy Libraries Australia recommendation that we do not have toys with button batteries in our collection.
We do not supply batteries for toys.
Where a toy includes a charger, members must be supplied with battery guidelines. These guidelines can be found on the Membership Terms and Conditions page of our website.

- Select the toy you would like to renew and click the blue 'renew' button.

- Click 'Duty Roster'
- Allocate your name in the spot that says 'Member' on a date that suits you. (Please do not select 'Coordinator' as a committee member needs to fill this spot)
What will I be doing when I volunteer at an open session?
One of our friendly committee members will help you run the session. Some of the tasks you will be asked to complete include:
- Setting and packing up toys
- Using Mibase (our borrowing system) to return toys as they come back in.
- Assisting members with self-check out
- Adding safety stickers or labels to toys/Checking toy quality
- Adding new toys to the system
- Labelling toys with numbers

- are toys - it seems obvious but only toys are covered by our insurance.
- meet Australian Toy Safety Standards (See the pdf below) - Most toys sold within Australia meet this standard.
- are in good condition
- are good quality
We cannot accept:
- toys with button batteries
- bath toys
- soft toys such as teddies
- electric ride on toys
- sports equipment designed for adults
- musical instruments designed for adults
- baby equipment such as high chairs, bouncers, etc.
